How joining works
- Join our waiting listTell us about your young person and which section they’d like to join. It only takes a few minutes.
- We find a spaceWe offer places in order as soon as one comes up, usually at the start of a new term.
- Come and get stuck inA volunteer will be in touch to offer a place and tell you when to start.
Why is there a waiting list?
Scouts is hugely popular in Needham Market, and right now most of our sections are full. Every section is run entirely by volunteers, and Scouts’ safety rules set how many adults we need for every young person. That means the number of places we can offer depends on the number of adults we have.
The good news? Every new volunteer lets us welcome more young people. With a few more adults on board we plan to open a second Beaver colony and offer more Squirrel places, and our new Scout HQ gives us the space to do it.

Good to know
- You don’t need a uniform to start. Find out what to wear and what it costs on our uniform and costs page.
- Scouts is for everyone. If your young person has additional needs, tell us when you sign up and we’ll talk through how we can support them.
- Already on the list? You can check the joining list at any time.
- Got a question? Get in touch and we’ll get back to you.
