Needham Scouts is run entirely by volunteers — people from our community who give their time to help young people develop skills for life.
Section Leaders (Lead Volunteers)
The people who plan and deliver the programme each week
Each section (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers) has a team of adult volunteers led by a Section Leader. They plan activities, run meetings, organise camps, and support every young person’s development. They complete training provided by The Scout Association and hold relevant safeguarding qualifications.
Young Leaders
Explorers who help run younger sections
Our Young Leaders are 14-18 year-olds from our Explorer section who volunteer their time to help with Beavers, Cubs, or Scouts. It’s a fantastic leadership opportunity and they bring energy, relatability, and brilliant ideas. They follow their own training programme and can achieve the Young Leader Belt.
Trustee Board (Executive Committee)
The governance and support team behind the scenes
Our Trustee Board handles finances, insurance, health and safety, the headquarters building, and Charity Commission compliance. They meet regularly to ensure the Group is well-managed and sustainable. The Board includes the Group Scout Leader, Treasurer, Secretary, and elected parent representatives.
