Uniform and costs

Subscriptions

Each section charges a termly subscription (“subs”) which covers the running costs of our headquarters, badge purchases, insurance, and programme materials. Current rates are confirmed when your child joins.

What subs cover:

  • Weekly meeting activities and materials
  • Badge purchases when earned
  • Membership of The Scout Association (including insurance)
  • Headquarters running costs (heating, lighting, maintenance)

What subs don’t cover: Camps, trips, and special events are charged separately at cost. We always give plenty of notice and try to keep costs as low as possible.

Uniform

We keep uniform requirements simple and affordable:

Cubs (8-10.5)Green sweatshirtDark trousers/joggers

Our Group necker (scarf) is presented to each young person upon their investiture — this is a special ceremony where they make their Scout Promise for the first time. The necker is provided free of charge.

Uniform tops can be purchased from the Scout Store or second-hand from our Group (ask your section leader).

Gift Aid

As a registered charity, we can claim Gift Aid on subscriptions. This adds 25% to your payment at no cost to you. If you’re a UK taxpayer, please complete a Gift Aid declaration when your child joins.

Financial assistance

We never want cost to be a barrier to Scouting. If your family would benefit from financial support with subscriptions, uniform, or camp fees, please speak to any section leader in confidence. We have funds available to help and all requests are handled discreetly.
